The Olympic committee says that two persons per country can swim an event if they make the A qualifying standards or one if the individual meets the B qualifying time.
Again, countries like the US will just take the top two because a lot of swimmers meet the requirement of A cut. Yeah, it’s a dog fight.
Now here are some stroke events:
Butterfly
100 meter – 2 people (powerful strokes and speed, you see big shoulders here)
200 meter – 2 people (power and little longer distance, you can figure what that’s like)![]()
Back Stroke
100 meter – 2 people (looking up and sprinting, takes some skills)
200 meter – 2 people (little pacing looking up, you will see long arms. tall swimmers)
Breast stroke
100 meter – 2 people (slowest stroke, which means most complex stroke, and your sprinting it)
200 meter – 2 people (complex and long, you might find rather shorter swimmers here in breast stroke)
Individual medley
200 meter – 2 people Qualify (50 of each stroke. You need skill, sprinting, and a little endurance. You're asked for everything)
400 meter - 2 people Qualify (100 of each stroke. You can tell who is good at what because there is the most exchange in this event.)
For team USA, you can find the roster on the USA swimming website for each specific event. www.usswim.org
